WHAT IS TELE-COURT?

Tele-Court is a private company that provides audio conferencing and web video services to courts across the country. For a relatively small fee, Tele-Court makes the process of scheduling, managing and conducting telephonic court appearances more efficient.

WHO CAN USE TELE-COURT?

Anyone can use Tele-Court! As permitted by the court and judge, attorneys and self represented litigants can use Tele-Court for non-evidentiary matters, such as status conferences and motion hearings. Where permitted by the judge and the applicable rules of evidence, Tele-Court can be used for evidentiary matters, such as testimony by parties, witnesses and experts.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A TELEPHONIC APPEARANCE?

For the basic telephonic appearance component of a court appearance, you only need a telephone! Tele-Court will provide you with a toll-free 800 number and a unique PIN number to call a few minutes prior to the scheduled hearing time. You don't need to ave internet access to make a telephonic appearance, but if you have a computer available you can log in at the time of the hearing and click the Live Courtroom Connection link and see a list of the participants, a photo if available, and the real time connection status of each participant.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED FOR WEB VIDEO?

Not every court or judge chooses to use Tele-Court's free web video feature, but if they are taking advantage of it, all you need to do is log in and open the Live Courtroom Connection link and you will see the judge and anyone else sending video. If you have a simple webcam, such as that built into a notebook computer or purchased for $25-$75, you can send video foreveryone else to see!

TELE-COURT AWARDED FEDERAL LICENSE AGREEMENT

In March of 2006, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AOUSC) awarded Tele-Court one of four master license agreements to provide telephonic court appearance services to the 94 districts in the United States federal court system.
